What if one of the causes of muscle tightness, abdominal pain, or headaches could be our emotions? Until about 15 years ago that idea was firmly in the “alternative” realm...
Then, some interesting findings started coming out of medical research:
Anger and overstimulation raise blood pressure...
Holding on to negative emotions and traumatic memories increases the level of stress hormones in our bloodstream, even when the event has passed…
Depression in conjunction with chronic pain can mean the pain lasts longer…
Fear makes pain feel more intense, even if you don’t consciously realise you are worried…
Of course, there are often mechanical components to your pain too. However, if it keeps reoccurring, or isn't responding the way it usually does, then it's possible that there is an emotional or stress component. Ask yourself these questions:
What are you shouldering?
Who is doing your head in?
What have you had a gutful of?
Who is being a right pain in the butt?
How good would it feel to get to the root of the problem? We can help 🙂
