Dr Nathan Burns
Acupuncturist | Traditional Chinese Medicine
Nathan Burns is an AHPRA-registered acupuncturist with more than 20 years of clinical experience. He holds a Bachelor of Health Science Acupuncture from Victoria University of Technology and brings a depth of knowledge grounded in Traditional Chinese Medicine TCM.
Nathan’s interest in acupuncture began in the mid 1990s, inspired by the concept of energy moving through the body and its role in healing. Over time, he developed a strong appreciation for TCM’s holistic framework, addressing both symptoms and underlying imbalances while encouraging patients to take an active role in their health.
Areas of Clinical Interest
Nathan has a particular focus on musculoskeletal conditions, especially concerns affecting the:
• Neck
• Shoulders
• Back
He has extensive experience supporting people with nerve-related pain, including sciatica, and works with patients seeking to improve mobility, strength, and long-term resilience.
Men’s health is another key area of interest. Nathan provides a relaxed and respectful environment where men can discuss both physical and mental health concerns. He also supports male fertility, complementing the clinic’s broader focus on reproductive health.
What to Expect in a Consultation

Your initial consultation involves a detailed discussion about your main concern, along with a physical assessment. Nathan also takes a comprehensive TCM history, including tongue and pulse diagnosis, to identify underlying patterns that may be influencing your health.
Following the assessment, he clearly explains his findings and outlines a tailored treatment approach.
Treatment may include:
• Acupuncture
• Dry needling muscular trigger point therapy
• Cupping
• Soft tissue techniques
• Electro acupuncture using gentle stimulation applied to needles where appropriate
Nathan also provides simple, practical exercises to support progress between sessions, helping patients build strength and maintain results over time.
A Holistic Philosophy

Nathan believes that empowering patients is fundamental to achieving and maintaining good health. His approach focuses on collaboration, education, and sustainable strategies that support long-term well-being.

Outside the clinic, Nathan enjoys boxing training and surfing. Boxing has taught him that efficiency comes from relaxation, a principle that also underpins effective acupuncture treatment. Surfing reconnects him with the natural elements that are central to Traditional Chinese Medicine.
